Thanks for the clarification. That's not quite as bad as I thought, but I can see why it would still be annoying. I think I'll manage to get by, though. I've been able to keep track of the jumbled Misc section of Skyrim so far, so I'm sure I can handle ME3. Heh. I really hope this game goes on sale soon because with all of the controversy behind the ending, I'm anxious to play and see it for myself. I have a hard time believing that it could really be as bad as everyone says...besides, even before the game was released, BioWare was hinting that the story will be extended in the near future.

    *SPOILER ZONE*

Yup I finished my Paragon playthrough last night with my final choice as merging organics and synthetics. As much as I tried avoiding every little piece of info about the game until I beat it, I heard that people were upset with the ending but I didn't find it THAT bad. I was expecting way worse. So in my ending, Shep dies, all Mass Relays were destroyed, lots of casualties and the ME trilogy and "The Shepard" becomes a legend for future humans. The only thing that kinda sucked was that the Mass Relays blew up so it's like the galaxy was sent back to the stone age rather than just "ok Reapers are gone, back to normalcy". But in a way, that makes sense because without Reaper technology (ie the Mass Relays and Citadel), that's where we would all be anyway.

But why did the Catalyst VI look like the kid from Earth? I thought it was designed by the Reapers from before this cycle? And why is it that the created will always destroy the creators? Doesn't the fact that Shep allied the Quarians and Geth completely null that premise?

Those are my initial thoughts but I might be missing something because it was like 2am when I beat it and wasn't all there at the time lol. I need to beat it again to get a clearer picture but feel free to chime in.

    EXPECT SPOILERS BELOW

I finished the campaign earlier today (about 10 hours ago) and I was also a Paragon. Merging synthetic and organic life sounds like the best way to go because everybody lives and they essentially evolve, but I really don't like the idea of it. And it doesn't make sense that they would be able to do this so easily, so I didn't want that to be part of my storyline. At the final decision, I made a selfish choice for once and ended up killing the Reapers and Geth. It was a genuinely hard decision because I feel like I've worked so hard to liberate the Geth (twice!), so ultimately killing them makes it all seem like a huge waste, but I wanted life for the humans to go back to the way it was (for the most part) and I wanted Shepard to survive. His death would actually make for a better ending, I think, but the Reapers needed to die. Obviously there's no perfect ending, which is both frustrating and refreshing.

All in all, it was an excellent game; easily the best in the trilogy. It was the shortest by far, but there was a ton of story and emotion. Even with the lack of content and variety, it really sucked me in. I even enjoyed most of the ending...I just wish it would've been explained a little better. Two things I really want to know are (1) why everyone was on the Normandy when they were supposed to be fighting on Earth and (2) why the Mass Effect relays didn't cause more damage. As for the Catalyst looking like the little kid...I think it was just tapping into Shepard's memories of the traumatic experience and it decided to take the boy's form. I imagine it is probably similar to the mission aboard the Geth ship when you go into the network.

I believe it was explained by Javik that synthetics turn on their creators because they are flawed. Or something like that. I'm not quite sure of the correct answer, so I'll just direct you to this discussion: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/to...dex/11906666/1
But yes, the truce between Geth and Quarians goes against what the Catalyst says and he even alludes to it somewhat.

I have more thoughts on the whole thing, but I'm too tired to put them into words right now, so I might talk about it more later. By the way, who else had Mordin and Thane die? And who else felt like crying like a baby?

Man, Thane is the MAN.... Getting a little misty eyed here. I also went Paragon and got the "best" ending possible by getting my readiness over 5,000. The first time I went with synthesis and then instantly regretted it, so I reloaded and did it again and decided to kill them reaper ba$tards.. That scene where you see the charred chest of Shepard, and then he takes that gasp of breath... That was amazing.

I agree that the ending had far too many holes in it to be satisfying, but all in all it wasn't THAT bad.

Yeah, I'm actually really looking forward to the ending expansion so we can have a few things explained better. Maybe even something to explain how this "space magic" works because that came out of nowhere. To be honest, I think the DLC was planned from the beginning. There isn't a doubt in my mind that Bioware planned on upsetting people with the ending and then releasing a "fix" for it. I mean, come one, they're throwing all of this together and recording audio for at least four of the characters in only a month? I think the only thing they didn't plan was releasing it for free.

For sure. People want to compare it to the end of the TV Show Lost, but I watched every single episode of Lost, and they tied that show up nicely, not leaving very many loose ends.

The ending of ME3 was like, "We'll get them with this, and then release the rest of the cinematic for $4.99... Hehehe". The problem is that it backfired
