Just finished Deus Ex last night, can finally put some hours into Fifa 12 which i've barely been able to play since i got it
-
Did you enjoy Deus Ex? I've got a save that's roughly 65-70% through it but just haven't felt the urge to continue playing it.
I did however play through the entirety of Dead Island relatively quick, it wasn't really long but I did enjoy every second I spent with that game. After that I moved onto Halo Reach which I've been putting off playing for probably 6 months (My 360 RROD'd, I had to tear it apart and cook it then mod it.) I did thoroughly enjoy the HR campaign and decided to jump straight into Enslaved, I am at the beginning of the 6th Chapter I believe.
But really I have been in a retro gaming mood, been playing a lot of Super Mario 64 and Conkers Bad Fur Day, as well as the urge to play Ocarina of Time, which I do once a year anyways.

How is Deus Ex?? Is it hard to get in too? Does it immerse you in the game. Good story?
Regarding Fifa 12, I haven't really got the chance to play it that much either. I'm 6 games into the season. Been busy with the site and in my spare time I play CS Source.
Games in general that I'm playing at the minute - HomeFront and Fifa 12 really. Completed Review copy of F1 2011, it's just boring now.
Have a review copy of Football Manager 2012, which I will be reviewing for the site very soon.

How is Dead Island? Never really known what that game is about or what type of game it is? Halo Reach = pish, hate it.
OOT is legendary
What's Enslaved also?
Explain?

Oh man, I want to play Conker's bad fur day again. That game was amazing, but I never owned it. just rented it. So i think I'll find it on ebay

Deus Ex was good but I never really felt like it drew me in, when I was playing it I felt relatively immersed but when I turned it off I didnt really feel the need to go back to it any time soon. Took me almost 2 months to get it done. I would compare it to Mass Effect 1 in terms of its RPG elements although I still prefer Mass Effect. I thought Halo Reach was okay, best of the series but I never was much of a Halo fan

LewPeet, that is spot on bro. That's exactly how DX has made me feel for sure.
Dead Island is frickin' awesome. Think of it like this, take the adrenaline rush of Left 4 Dead, combine that with the loot ******* and leveling system not to mention 4-player Co-Op of Borderlands, (ALA Diablo for a new generation lol) and then slap on a shiny coat of paint which puts it near Crysis 2 DX9 mode and there you have Dead Island.
As for Enslaved, what is there to say. It's developed by Ninja Theory, the same team behind the Ninja Gaiden series obviously. The game is a built almost entirely as a platformer with some combat mixed in for good measure. The game plays the exact opposite of a Ninja Gaiden game pretty much. The combat is super easy, in fact the game as a whole is pretty easy. It's like enjoying an interactive movie because the game holds your hand the entire time. Overall though I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Sometimes I'm not looking for a frustratingly hard game. *coughs* Ninja Gaiden Black *coughs*

I loved Enslaved. I'm not someone who gets more joy out of playing hard games (I'm going to so angry during Dark Souls), so the difficulty level was great for me, even on the hardest setting. Combat was very fluid and the character interaction was fantastic. I know L.A. Noire did all of that fancy face-scanning mumbo jumbo, but I think Enslaved probably has the most realistic facial animations I've ever seen. And it was great to finally see a fresh re-telling of a classic story.
For the most part, I haven't let myself hear/read/see anything about Dead Island because I'd rather just find out for myself, so this is the first time I've seen it compared to Borderlands. Just how similar are the two? I was REALLY disappointed with Borderlands. It was incredibly boring for me, so now I'm a little worried that it might be the same for Dead Island. Do I need to play co-op in order to enjoy the game?
Oh, and I doubt anyone is going to care, but I've been playing Create. Or I've been trying to anyway. I was out of town Friday to Sunday and I spent the last two days trying to recover from my exhausting "vacation", so I haven't allowed myself much time to play, but I'm nearly halfway done with it now. It isn't anything spectacular, but it's definitely a lot better than most people expect it to be.

The comparisons I draw between Borderlands and Dead Island really boil down to each section of the map is broken down into quest hubs and then the areas surrounding them to do said quests and the fact that it's setup with the same looting rules (Blue, Green, White, Orange weapon values.) I personally love Borderlands but can tell you from having put 25+ Hours into Dead Island and well over 100 Hours into Borderlands that Dead Island is hands down the better game to play. Not only is it fun single player (which Borderlands isn't.) The quests are well designed, the voice acting for the most part is well done, in fact I can't really think of too many negatives about the game. Some people experienced graphical problems on the PC but I didn't have a single problem with the game, it ran at maxed settings and never dropped below 90fps.
I would highly recommend picking it up. It may be better co-op but I enjoyed it immensely by myself. The game isn't perfect but what it does do well, it does damn well.

Now that I've got my new laptop, I finally downloaded Left 4 Dead 2 (the one that I won through this site *thumbs up*) so I've been playing that the last few nights. Since I had to reinstall Steam anyway, I also redownloaded Counter-Strike Source and Day of Defeat. Ahh brings back memories.

Awesome, glad to hear it. I really, really wanted to like Borderlands, but I played 99.9% of it by myself and was bored to tears. I can understand that some games are more fun with friends, but there should at least be something to make the singleplayer game worthwhile. Anyway, I will definitely check out Dead Island ASAP. I'm out of money, so I have to not buy any games for a while...

Just picked up Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 on a whim. I enjoy the books so I thought I would give it a try. As simple as it is, it is still quite enjoyable. It's the first Lego game I've played. I'm thinking about grabbing a Lego Star Wars before I'm swamped with the games about to come out.
