Ms. Splosion Man beta
Just out of curiosity, is anyone else in this beta? I haven't run across anyone else in the beta, so I haven't really had a chance to talk about it. And I'm really not even sure how much I can say about it in public, although I never actually signed an NDA. Anyway, if anyone else has played it, I'm curious to hear whatever thoughts you're willing to share. I've got simultaneous feelings of joy and disappointment and I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same way.

I'm going to be honest, I was so bored with splosion man that I didn't even want to try this one out. As far as arcade-like games go, it was too much of a bore. Plus, at the time I was hooked on Castle crashers hah.
Tell me your thoughts on playing it for the past 3 days tho, I'd like to hear about it to see if I'm missing anything.

Well, I loved Splosion Man. So many of those puzzles were insanely elaborate and required perfect timing, so it was a tough game, but I found it very satisfying to get blasted all over the place. I personally found it to be quite exciting.
Ms. Splosion Man gives me the same kind of feeling, but I think it's a bit too easy. Sure, it's less frustrating to have so many checkpoints, but I feel like I'm cheating. And there aren't a lot of new elements that I've seen so far. Of course, the beta only has a few levels, so I can't really make a fair assessment just yet.

I LOVED Splosion Man. One of my favorite XBLA games. IIRC that had a ton of checkpoints as well. Now that I think about it though, I dont think I ever beat co-op. I remember starting it with a friend and then getting so frustrated because of how strict the timing on some of the jumps were (his reaction times suck big time) then we gave up lol. Single player was amazing though. And the doughnuts song is up there with Still Alive as one of the greatest video game songs (with lyrics) ever imo.

Yeah, Splosion Man had a lot of checkpoints, but this has even more. The first game usually had them between rooms, while this one sometimes has them in the middle of a room as well. And yes, the doughnut song is fantastic! Heh. The same guy does another good song for stats page in Captain Smiley.
Oh, and I actually never beat co-op either. I tried playing it with my wife, but she got too frustrated with it. Just not her kind of game. My only chance is to play online, I guess, but that seems like it would be a huge pain.

that might have been the problem with me too. I played with friends (I want to say 3 of us) and we were all getting on each others nerves cause we all equally sucked haha Maybe I'll try single player, cause I'm aching for a puzzle game
-
Well it's not really a puzzler. More like a platformer. If you wanna run some co-op sometime Murga just send me an invite.
-
I'd say there are some puzzle elements, but yeah, it's definitely a platformer at heart. And I just might take you up on that offer...probably not for a while, though, because it's hot as hell and I'm already ridiculously cranky/irritable. Maybe after we install our new A/C!
