Awesome deal next week!
If anyone cares, the Power Gig: Rise of the SixString band bundle will be on sale for $40 at BigLots from April 10 to April 14! This is the full kit with game, guitar, microphone, drums, and sticks. This kit is still going for nearly $170 at a lot of places (including Amazon), and you'll probably pay $60 just for the game and guitar, so this is a pretty good deal. The game sells for just under $20, so it's kinda like buying the guitar and getting everything else for free. I know this didn't get the best reviews, but it's worth it just for the guitar, which you can use as a real guitar (it plugs into an amp). Not sure if it's been made compatible with Rock Band 3's Pro mode yet or not, though.
As far as I can tell, it looks like they only have the Xbox 360 version available, but I could be wrong. All I know is that I will be picking this up for sure on Sunday. Hopefully some of you have BigLots in your area.

Something of real value is always expensive - you have to give away a great deal. And to give a lot, you must first take a lot.

Not in mine either. Althugh I'm not sure if I would be interested in this anyway. Its crazy how fast the music genre died out. I was a huge fan for a while too. Got really good on both guitar and drums too lol.

It was inevitable. As soon as Activision started flooding the market with games, it was clear that the genre wouldn't last much longer. It always happens with these rhythm games. It happened with DDR and it'll happen with the new dancing games like Dance Central and Just Dance. People get into them because they're really fun, which makes companies churn them out like crazy, but then we all get tired of the upgrades and spin-offs. With Guitar Hero out of the picture, it's down to just Rock Band when it comes to music games and I think Harmonix will probably want to lay low. With so many people still playing RB2, there's no reason to release more games unless they come up with something truly revolutionary.
I've barely touched RB3 and I still haven't played the last GH, but I've always wanted to try out PowerGig just because it's something a little different. From what I hear, it's probably not very good, but I'd rather spend $40 on something like this instead of going out to dinner. Even if I don't like it, at least I'll have extra instruments for other games.

Yeah, I noticed that last night. They apparently also have a buy-2-get-2 deal for older platforms like GameCube, GameBoy Advance, and a few others. It's a pretty good deal, but I unfortunately really dislike getting used games from them. Heck, I don't even like getting ones from them. Heh.

I like having the original box and manual, which you can rarely get at GameStop here. And I don't know if prices fluctuate from place to place, but most of the used games at GameStop cost more than brand new copies on Amazon. I almost bought a used copy of 999 for DS, but it's the exact same price as Amazon's new copy. And there were tons of games for $50-$60 are only $30-$40 on Amazon. It also bugs me that they don't even match their own site's prices; I went to go pick up DJ Hero because the site has it for $9.99 new, but my local GS wanted almost $30 for a used copy.
Anyway, I picked up my copy of PowerGig first thing in the morning. I haven't played it yet, but I like just how hefty the guitar is. It's way smaller than a real guitar, so it's probably going to be hard to play, but I'm hoping for the best. I also bought Truth Or Lies at Target for $5. It's another game that everyone says is awful...I guess I'm just a masochist this weekend. Probably explains why I also bought Disney Sing It: Family Hits...which is actually kinda fun.

When I buy I make sure I get the original case and manual lol if they dont have it I usual go to a different Gamestop since there are 3 within walking distance of my place.
I do hate the online only price thing they have. Sometimes they have good deals but its online only which is dumb and really annoying but when it comes to online game buying I stick to amazon and Newegg thats the one thing gamestop just sucks at lol.
Would of bought Power Gig for that price but there is no Biglots in NYC

Yeah, I stick almost exclusively to Amazon when it comes to buying online. I don't buy from Newegg too often, but if they have a good deal and free shipping, I'll jump on it. And they're only a couple of hours from my house, so I usually get my stuff the day after ordering.
That sucks about BigLots not being in your area, but from what I hear, the deal seems to vary from region to region anyway. Some places are only selling the guitar bundle and some aren't selling it at all. Lucky for me, we've got 4 or 5 stores in our town, so I always get to take advantage of their good deals. And we've got at least 5 GameStops (two of which are a few doors down from each other in the same mall), but none of them are within walking distance.
If it makes you feel any better, my guitar already broke. Well, one of the strings anyway. I don't know what happened; it just kinda unraveled. Didn't even get a chance to play with the stupid thing yet. I'm going to see if I can just exchange the whole bundle for another one because I really don't feel like trying to restring it. I have some strings somewhere, I think, but I'm not sure if this even uses standard strings.
EDIT: I found a replacement string last night and fixed the guitar. Still a little bummed about it happening in the first place, though.
