So I played an odd amount of ranked yesterday around 7 I went 2-5!!! ahh rank is fustrating its filled with simply control using spammers. Ran into a guy who used Arther, Magneto and yup you guessed it sentinel the one match I don't pick Wesker lol. I did lose one game to a guy who had true skill an intense match it was my Wesker and his Morrigan left and he did a sick combo on me that caught me off guard and he won. Games like that I love win or loss <3 we even exchanged GG. After losing 4 in a row I ran into the same arther, magneto and sentinel guy but I had Wesker, Trish and Dante and I destroyed his spammy *** lol only got hit maybe 5-6 times While Wesker did everything I love my teleporting combo ending in a hyper. I'm now overall something like 7-14 really bad start but hopefully I can pick it up and keep using my Wesker, trish and dante team like every game in anticipation of spammers. I just want to face a 1st class guy so I can get my achievement then play nothing but Player matches where people actually play fair.
/rant.

What rank are you Yank? I noticed that Fighter is the dividing line between newbies and intermediates. Once I reached Fighter, I never once got paired with blanks, Rookies, Amateurs and Beginners again. Now I'm only getting paired against 9-5th Lords/Judge/Ranger and whatever else there is. But I haven't faced anyone above 5th (thank god lol) so Im guessing there's another division where once you pass 5th, then you'll only face 1-4's. The reason I mention that is because if you're planning on playing a rank 1 person and then strictly player matches, you might still have to slog through a unhealthy amount of ranked games if I'm right lol

I'm a fighter but when I search I leave rank at any so I get matched up with high players. Played a 2nd lord tonight still waiting for a fight with a 1st. Reason I'm losing alot lol some very skilled players out there.

Oh yeah I forgot about that lol. In other news, Jill and Shuma are 400MS EACH?! What a rip off. I bought the CE so I'm covered but this probably means any other characters are going to be the same price.

Capcom is beginning to be worse than EA when it comes to DLC.

Something of real value is always expensive - you have to give away a great deal. And to give a lot, you must first take a lot.

So the games been out for a month and a half now and alot has changed. People are starting to figure new tech out every week and that Sentinel nerf really changed the dynamics of teams revolving around the machine (for those who don't know, Sent got 30% of his life taken away...damn near a Phoenix sized chunk). How do you guys feel the game is progressing? What's changed in your team/strategy since the launch?
And as another point of discussion speaking of the Sent nerf a couple of weeks ago. What do you all think about that? Personally, I'm pretty pissed. Yes, he needed to be nerfed but they went about it the wrong way imo. The only thing lowering his health really did was made him less useful as an assist char because he can get killed in one mis-timed assist now, which hurts other characters that depend on a good projectile assist more than himself imo. The real problem was his damage output (especially with lvl 3 X-factor) and that didn't change at all. He can still wipe out an entire team by himself. To top it off, because his health is lower, he has terrible mixups and his hitbox is damn near half the screen, he now gets killed so easily. They took him from having the most health in the game to below average with the biggest hitbox in the game. 30% of his life was wayyyy too much and the real problem with the character never even got fixed. Talk about killing a fly with a sledgehammer. Nevermind the fact that people are constantly figuring out more and more ways to beat him outright so the patch was probably too premature to begin with. I feel that he's slowly going to become a useless character as time moves on despite the crazy damage he still does. On the upside though, I'm running into alot fewer Sents online now.
And as an aside that probably could've been done in PM lol Yank, I spied your license card the other day and noticed you haven't been playing at all since the launch. What's up?? We still haven't gotten any games in yet!

I haven't played in like a month lol, Been busy with Midterms etc and when I get on I usually play a little bit of Gears2 and call it a night. Plus MLB 2k11 as well. I haven't played with the new Update besides at a friends last weekend but I was a bit drunk so dont really know it that well. Glad Sentinel was nerfed lol. I should have some time on my hands in the coming weeks plus Spring Break so I'll probably be playing MvC3 along with the Gears 3 beta alot.

I didn't even hear about them doing that to the Sentinel. It's good that they did something, but I agree that they went about it the wrong way. If anything, they should've just lowered his power and defense a bit. Of course, this is coming from someone who hasn't actually played the game yet, so I guess my input doesn't mean a whole lot.

Well I was right. I reached 4th Lord earlier this week and now I'm getting my butt handed to me lol. I only face 1-4's now. Worst of all, it takes FOREVER to find matches now, probably because not as many people are in those ranks compared to the lower ones. Even if I set the search to any, which I now have to do, it still only looks for players who have their search set to any as well (or are within that 1-4th rank range). Sometimes, I end up playing in training mode for like 15-20 minutes before it finds me a match. So frustrating. I really regret playing so much ranked now lol

i've lost interest in fighting games. i bought MvC3 when it first came out only to be bored within a couple days. To me its all button mashing. i've never been a "fan" of fighting games but will always play them. I don't think this game was worth the wait. It's very similar to MvC2 but with newer characters, some new moves but thats basically it. I'm pretty sure Capcom could've come out with this game years ago if people stopped playing 2.

Dont mean to sound harsh here but if it's all about button mashing to you then sorry but you're playing them wrong. Strategy is the name of the game. Not just combos and doing special moves but spacing, set ups, resets, maximizing damage on punishes, making correct reads and eliminating the "random" factor by limiting your opponent's options. Fighting games are definitely the type of game that you really need to study if you want to get good. Probably the most complex competitive genre next to RTS games.

yeah i know i'm playing the game wrong. i just never understood how to play fighting games. maybe its a little too complex for me, figuring out how to press the buttons in a certain order. plus half the things u said i didn't even know you needed "set ups, spacing, resets, etc." just goes to show you that fighting games aren't for me.
