Dead Space 2!
Ok, I just got it and I'm scared out of my mind. I love how the atmosphere reminds me of Alien and I really dig the new setting.
Does anyone else have this game? I also got the rivet gun code so I'm gonna see how crazy that weapon is.

The rivet gun is pretty awesome; not sure how it is in DS2, though. I haven't bothered to get the game yet because I wasn't impressed with the demo and there are other things I'd rather play first. I loved the first Dead Space, but I was hoping for more improvements instead of more of the same. But I am curious to see what the atmosphere is like because I wasn't expecting it to be scary. Personally, I thought the first one was only creepy for the first hour or so. At that point, I knew to expect things to pop out of the walls and whatnot, so it was never very surprising. And in this one, I see Isaac more as the hunter rather than the hunted, which is actually what had me interested in the first place.
Have you tried the co-op multiplayer yet? Although I usually hate when they tack on multiplayer, I actually think it's a good idea for this game. With the way the story is going, it just makes sense to me to play a game like this with a friend or two.

I never finished DS1 don't remember why might of been a disc error or something. But I do want to re buy it and play it since part 2 looks great and I love horror games. Might be a while since I got a bunch of games I'm playing right now but its definitely on my list

DS 2 is next up for me. Was supposed to get a review copy but EA flopped the day before release. I'll probably get it later this month.
I absolutely loved the first one and even the iPhone game is pretty good (it's not a port of the first but it's own standalone game)

Played about 5 hours at a friends house and I have to say it is really good. I like the Rivet Gun but it has limited use (e.g. the pack). I like the Plasma Cutter and Line Gun. I wonder did we even have a review??? I would have reviewed it.

Nope, we don't have a review for it. It's still relatively new, though, so you're welcome to write something up if you'd like.

I do not own the game so I will not be able to write a review. I just played quite a bit at my friends house.

Yeah, this one is less of an Alien type game and a bit more like Aliens in the way that Alien's main goal was: get the hell off that ship. While Aliens main goal was: kill it!
Issac is talking now, so its some nice character devel and I'll be trying the multiplayer as soon as I finish the game actually.
Also, I'll be writing up the review for our little site, so expect it soon!

Well, I'm glad someone on here is on top of it. Heh. I can't do it either because I sent my copy back (I accidentally ordered it sooner than I meant to). And you're right, it's absolutely like Alien/Aliens. I hadn't even thought of that, although it comes as no surprise; it would be the first thing DS has "borrowed" from a sci-fi movie.

I'm just gonna put my blinders up and say that Amnesia is scarier, even though I haven't beaten the first Dead Space, nor have I played the second one.
Sorry, but I just had another nightmare about Amnesia, even though I beat that game like three months ago. I'm beginning to think that game scarred my psyche.
What I did play through in Dead Space, it was just...unsettling. Nothing more, nothing less. Resident Evil 4 scared me first, so Dead Space was basically paving the same ground, so I was kinda used to it. Plus, the only actually scary scenes in Dead Space were the "jump" parts, like a dead body springing to life. I pretty much predicted the part where a necromorph would creep up on me when I was modifying my weapons at the work bench.
I guess that's not really fair to say all that against Dead Space, but really, the annoying soundtrack just pisses me off when necromorphs are chasing you. That one level where you're in the bio-habitat place (I forgot what it's called) and you're being attacked, you just hear monkeys screaming and noise... Sorry, but that's a pretty artificial and cheap way of scaring a person, in my opinion.

Something of real value is always expensive - you have to give away a great deal. And to give a lot, you must first take a lot.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think Dead Space is actually meant to be scary. It's just meant to be, like you said, unsettling. It's very startling the first few times you get surprised by Necromorphs, but then it just becomes an action game after that. It does play on your survival instincts pretty well, though. Every time I saw a dead body, the first thing I did was shoot off its limbs...just in case. It's just like playing BioShock.
Amnesia is creepy as hell because you're so defenseless. It's a lot like the Clock Tower games in that sense. To me, RE4 is a lot like Dead Space; I don't think that series has been even remotely creepy since the the Director's Cut of RE1. Zero had one or two spots that got me, but it's nothing like Amnesia or Silent Hill 2.

I wouldn't say that you're totally defenseless in Amnesia...you are capable of chucking boxes at the monster.
But damn, that game has pacing. I would just freak the hell out at stupid random stuff, like a falling book or box or whatever. It did not help that the paintings in the castle morphed when Daniel went loopy.

Ha ha, yeah, it really has a great feeling of suspense. I would love to play a VR version of that game!
