    Default Secret XBLA puzzler: Ilomilo

Has anyone seen/played/heard of this? Some adorable co-operative puzzler but for some reason it's not listed in the Marketplace. Instead, there's some elaborate (but legitimate) way of unlocking it. HERE's how to get it. (Sorry for the plug again. Judging by my brick of a post before, I know you guys aren't interested in me advertising the site here but I already typed it up once and don't feel like doing it again lol...sue me).

It's actually really fun and so friggin cute lol. Great music too. With that method, you download the trial and have the option of buying the game for 800MSP. Im thinking about it because its really good but I want to get Super Meat Boy first.

So I wanted to start a discussion of 1. the game itself and 2. the bizarre method of accessing it. How do the devs and MS expect to make money off it when no one knows about it and you have to go through this elaborate process to get it? Seems backwards to me.

Thanks for this. And don't worry about the self-plug...you've been here quite awhile and you're definitely not a spammer, so I don't have anything against the plug. Anyway, I agree that this is definitely a strange way to release a game. I actually really wanted to play this, but I thought it was only available for the Windows Phone 7! I'm really looking forward to playing this; I just have to clear some space off of my Xbox because Black Friday completely filled up my hard drive. In fact, I still haven't downloaded all of my purchases because there isn't any room. Heh.

I'll be checking this out tonight. If it seems worth playing, I'll have to see if I can snag a review code.

EDIT: You know, this could actually be a good way to release a game just because the secretive nature is going to make a lot of people more interested. I'm not sure if that's actually the case here or not, though. I think this is actually just early access because according to press info, the game hasn't been officially released yet.

Hmm interesting. Yeah I thought before that word of mouth of something so unorthodox would draw attention. And how big of a hard drive do you have? You're not still running the stock 20gb are you? XBLA stuff doesn't take up a whole lot usually so I'm just curious.

I can't remember offhand, but I have either 60GB or 80GB. Most likely the 60 GB. But I also have over 55 XBLA games and 14 XBLA Indie games...and then I have saves (multiple in some cases) for my 55+ full retail Xbox 360 games. Then on top of that, I have a lot of DLC, some of which is pretty big (Fallout 3, Oblivion, Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 1/2, Dragon Age, etc.). When I checked earlier, I had around 40 GB (give or take) being used just for all of that. So, I've got quite a bit of stuff. Ha ha. I had over 17 GB in videos, so I transferred a lot of them to a flashdrive and then deleted everything I don't care about. After clearing space and then letting my Black Friday purchases download, I've got about 3 GB...which is a lot better than the 600 MB that I had earlier.

One of these days, I'm definitely going to have to upgrade to the 250 GB hard drive and then sell mine or trade it in or something.

Yeah I have 29 XBLA games and a ton of big DLC too (Fallout, ME, Oblivion, Rock Band, RDR). I even install 3-4 of my most current games and still have like 15-20GB left on my 60GB lol

Yeah, I don't know how I manage it, really. I've got nearly 1 TB on my computer and it never feels like enough. 60 GB is such a small amount... I guess it helps knowing that I can just re-download stuff whenever I want, so I don't mind deleting videos, demos, and whatnot.

Yeah see I don't have any videos, usually delete demos after once or twice through it and don't store music or anything. So all I have is XBLA games, dlc and installed games. I also use flash drives for some dlc though so that definitely helps

I don't store any music either; I've always preferred listening to in-game music (unless I'm playing Call of Duty 2 with friends). I had a lot of videos, but I got rid of 80% of them. Now there are just the Horror Meets Comedy videos and some random trailers, most of which are on a flashdrive. I had to get The Guild on DVD just so I could delete all of the episodes. Ha ha.

Anyway, since we're [sorta] on the topic of Ilomilo...has anyone here played Tinker? It's a free game through Games For Windows Live and it has similar gameplay. Definitely worth checking out sometime if you haven't already.

No need to be weirded out; they're just having a little fun with it. The game doesn't officially release until next month during the XBLA Holiday event with A World For Keflings and Raskulls, so this might be the only way that Microsoft will allow the developers to share the game with people right now.

And personally, I think it looks rather cutesy.

Yeah Im a sucker for the cutesy style. I think it really adds personality. And yeah that would explain it. I didn't realize it didn't actually release yet.

Same here; I get sucked in by this kind of style. And it's really fun gameplay style too. I really enjoy these types of games, especially when co-op is thrown in. According to my Microsoft contact, this officially releases on January 5. She usually hooks me up with promotional stuff, so she'll probably send a copy of this my way. Making friends with developers and publishers definitely has its perks. Heh.

I ended up getting ilomilo and I'm totally in love. This is one of the best games I've played in a long time. Consider me completely charmed.
