    Default Canada Trade-In deals

Hey folks... hopefully this post can get "pinned" to the top of the forum. I posted this trade-in switcheroo on Necro's Gaming Deals 1-18-09 thread, but I think this may warrant an ongoing thread. There have been many instances in te recent past where EB Games/Gamestop has reduced prices on brand new or used 360 games, and the trade value at Blockbuster for said games are double what you paid for them. For example, I'll tell you what I did today:

Alone in the Dark for the 360 has been reduced to $9.89 new/ $8.99 used. At Blockbuster, it has a trade-in value of $18. I'm in dire need of MS Points, so I bought two used copies at EB (with the 10% Edge card discount) for $8.09 apiece and traded them both in to Blockbuster a half hour later for $36 total credit. So eesentially, I paid $16 and change for a 2800 points card, give or take a few dollars. Sah-weet!

So, this thread is for any other deals that you've come across, and you'd like others to know about. I'll be posting in here regularly!

    Cheers!

I took advantage of the Buy 2 used get 1 free deal at gamestop. I bought Far Cry 2 used and Force Unleashed used and got Bioshock for free. I went to another gamestop and returned both Far Cry 2 and TFU. I then used that money to buy Far Cry 2 new (it was only $35 new and $55 used because of a flaw in a deal they had). I walked out with a new copy of Far Cry 2 and a free copy of bioshock for only $35.

Another thing you can do is buy a used copy of a newer game (I did it with MK vs. DCU). It helps if its very rare. Try and get it within a few days of release. It will be hard to find, but just call around until you find a copy. Anyway, take that copy and scratch it a little bit, enough to be noticeable. Take the game to another gamestop and ask them to replace the disc because the other store had no more copies. If you managed to get a rare used game, the new store will most likely have no used copies. The guy behind the counter told me that I could return the used game and get the game new for the same cost as used since they didnt have a replacement copy :P

I find deals every day so thats why I just slap them in a new topic. Makes it eaiser to see what the newest stuff is and most of the time, the deals die in a day or 2 of posting (or a few hours like the $29.97 13 month live cards). At least I got 2 of the live cards (1 amazon and 1 walmart) so i'm set for awhile

Here's a new one: Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is $9.99 new at EB (probably 8.99 used) and it trades into Blockbuster for $16 credit. Not too shabby!

Double post, but I couldn't help it: never mind the deal above... EB Games has Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for the PS3, used, for $4.99!!!! AAAAND... THAT trades into Blockbuster for $20!!!!!

Buy a game for $5, get $20 in trade credit at Blockbuster. So, essentially, a 1400 MS points card for $5. My EB only had one used copy for the PS3 left, and one for the 360. I bought them both, and traded them in to BB. I suggest you do the same

    More EB Games-Blockbuster trade-in goodness:

NHL 2K7 for the 360 is $1.89 at EB Games. Blockbuster has a trade-in promo going right now where ANY 360, PS3 or Wii game trades in for a minimum of $10 in-store credit. I bought eight copies, at a cost of $17.09 taxes in, and traded them in for $80 worth of store credit at Blockbuster. Thought I'd give everyone a heads-up.

Yeah you just have to ask. It will depend on each store because the value it's worth has to do with how much stock they have of it. So if it's a game that nobody's trading in, then it's likely you'll get more for it.

I dont have any kind of deals like that, although my friend took advantage of that Quake Wars deal a few months ago (bought two and traded in at Blockbuster for $15 or 20 profit). However just recently, I bought FEAR 2 used at $39 and then traded it back into EB after playing it for a few weeks for $36. Not bad for only $3.

EDIT: Oh and Futureshop is having a sale until the 11th for Dead Space. Only $10! I still havent played the game so I got a copy but Im sure you could find an EB or Blockbuster that'll take it for more than that.

Just a heads up. Futureshop has a sale going on for Splinter Cell Conviction for $29.99 and when the sale ends, the trade-in value goes back up to regular price. The guy said I could probably get $30-$35 back for it so I basically got to play it for free lol

Unfortunately though, I just found out the trade-in price for it today and the sale ends today so if you want to take advantage, you have to pick it up tonight!! Just make sure you go to a Futureshop that takes used games when you bring it back because not all of them do. They give way better prices than EB for trades too.
