    Default BioShock: Infinite

In case any of you missed the announcement, here's a bit of info:

So, what do you guys think? I do like that they are trying a completely different direction and I also like the idea of a steampunk sky city, but I don't think it works for the BioShock world. This is supposed to be a well-known and popular city, yet there is no mention of it in either of the previous games? And are we now to expect all sorts of different failed utopians? What's next, a volcano city? Space station? City made of ice? I think it could work as a standalone game, but I feel like it is really being forced into the BioShock world. I'm fine with leaving Rapture for a little while, but they have to make it work and make sense.

Does anyone else agree or am I just too picky?

No I'm with you there. To me, Bioshock is better as a one off than a franchise. Bioshock 2 was tolerable because it was at least still in Rapture but this is too much.

I too think it would be better as a one-shot deal, although I can also see the potential of a franchise. The only problem is that they don't seem to know how to take it in the right direction. I'll admit, the teaser trailer does look pretty cool, but like you said, this is just too much. I would be more open to this if it were just part of the series but not part of the same universe. They could use the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within argument and say that it is unrelated to the previous games and that it only shares the namesake because it still follows the concept of a "bio shock", but that doesn't seem to be the direction they are taking. And even then, there is still the issue that they are just cashing in on the name...

But hey, it's very early, so I guess we'll just have to see how things pan out. I currently don't support the game, but I will give it a fair chance.
