Default With SOE Let the buyers beware!

I played EQ1 and EQ2 for a very long time. I was in at the beta and even served as a guide for a short in EQ2. When my son went off to college and my mother passed away at the same time I needed a break from MMO’s. I went to the website to cancel my EQ2 account. It took me through a long drawn out high pressure sales pitch asking me why I would dare cancel my account. I finished and thought it was done.
The next few months weren’t a good time for me as can be expected. I was rather shocked to see three months after I canceled my account that SOE had charged my account for another three months. I called them as soon as I got credit card statement and was told in no uncertain terms that they will not give refunds under any circumstances. They admitted that I had not logged in to my account in over 4 months but they said that the money goes to reserve the time for me. They said since they have no record of my terminating the account that I must be a lair. To make a long story short after fighting them for several weeks I called my credit card and they got my money back. I was told that I was banned from EQ2 for ever or until I give them the money back.
Several years passed and a friend told me about the new game Vanguard and to give it a try. So I bought the game for 20$ and joined in. After 1 day SOE discovered that I had dared to open another account and closed it and banned me at once and told me that the 20$ was being applied to my outstanding balance. I pointed out that I had worked in credit for years and they are forbidden by law to do this but they would not be deterred. So during the debate they completely banned every account that had ever been attached to my home address. I couldn’t even contact them by e-mail. I created an account to point out that this was their last chance to do what is right and they refused. I called my credit card company and got the money back.
If this is their standard of customer service they won’t be in business for much longer and I won’t shed a tear for them.

Wow that sucks big time! Glad you got your money back in the end though. Sheisty business practices.

MMO's should be abolished, really. Pay to play is a stupid policy *cough Activision cough*

wow thats crazy. So many MMO companies have crazy policies. I had an issue with Turbine and my LoTRO account a while ago. I had canceled my account after about a year of playing and wanted to remove my credit card info from the account. They told me I could, but the account could never be reactivated again. They basically held my account hostage for my CC info. That was the first and last time I'll ever use a CC on any MMO game. These companies really dont give a sh*t about their players as long as they get your money.
