Starcraft 2

Will anyone be picking this up come July 27th? My friend has convinced me that I need to buy this game because it's apparently the second coming for PC gamers. To be honest, I've never been into RTS games, except maybe Halo Wars, so I'm not sure how much I'll like it. My friend and I are planning on going to the midnight release party at the local Gamestop, so that should be fun.

I probably won't get it because I wasn't really all that impressed with the first Starcraft. It was cool and all, but I got bored with playing it. I think Age of Empires is the only RTS franchise that has ever truly entertained me.

I played SC for years, def top 3 games of all time for me. But i've been playing SC2 beta for a while now and it just seems like its not different enough for me. Its been 10 years, so a graphics update and new units isn't enough. If this came out 5-6 yrs ago I'd probably say its the best sequel ever, but 10 yrs is a long time, then needed to do more. Regardless to say Im going to get a copy anyway

Well, I preordered it today. I looked like an idiot when I asked for the Special Edition. "Yeah, that sold out two months ago." I kinda wanted the first game on he USB stick and the WoW pet that comes with it, but whatever. I can get the first game for pretty cheap if I really wanted it. And too bad the game doesn't have LAN, the manager at Gamestop wanted everyone to bring in their PCs and have a tournament at midnight. I like my Gamestop, they might screw you over but they have pretty fun ideas and launch parties.

Yeah i dunno if I'm gonna get this. I'm just not the rts fan that i use to be. Plus i was never a hardcore Starcraft guy either. Just played the occasional LAN game with some friends here and there. Maybe I'll get it down the line but I'm in no rush.

sc1 was my go to for all of middle school.

I got Starcraft 2 and can say with pride that I'm a 1400 diamond ranked Terran. (That means I'm 20,000th in the world of 1 million+ users)
I can't say if my skill is up to my rank, though. I haven't been playing Starcraft a whole lot recently.

I have 2100 points but only gold ranked.

Rank means jack in Starcraft. It's all about the points. I see platinums higher than me all the time. You must be pretty freakin legit to have a 2100.

spent a lot of time on the single player achievements. Welcome to the Jungle on hard took me the longest on Hard, I hate that mission.

I remember beating that mission on brutal, and it was, for lack of a better word, brutal.

To get the last gas canister, I had to sacrifice my whole army, scvs and my base. I flew my command center to my scv and barely made the last drop off.

I think starcraft is one of those games where there is a correlation between difficulty and fun, assuming that you can overcome the challenges. You haven't tried a hold out against the zerg unless you played the level on brutal - can't remember the name, it was the first artifact mission...
