    Default questions about new 360?

I'm taking pictures and doing a semi-review of the new 360, so do any of you have questions? I know it's a little late and the bigger sites already have articles up from last week about this, but amazon was a little off with their shipping estimate.

How much quieter is it without installing a game? I'm assuming it comes with a controller right? How about hdmi or component cables? Just wondering if it's really worth trading in my existing 360 for it

I'm more curious about the case. Obviously it's going to be more prone to looking dusty, but what about fingerprints? How easily does it get smudged and how easy is it to keep clean? It seems to have a case similar to the PS3, so I imagine it must be hard to keep it looking nice.

When running a game it can get very loud, so loud that I didn't even expect it. I put in CoD4 since I didn't have it installed and this thing sounds like a heavy duty fan. It is whisper quiet at startup and at the dashboard, and I'm guessing that with the 250gb HDD they expect you to install all of your games. Sure enough, I put in Red Dead, which I have installed, and it was back to its quiet self. It comes with a black controller, not unlike the one that comes with the elite. Just imagine that one with black sticks and d-pad and a chrome guide button and that's what it looks like. It does come with component cables, but not HDMI.

Yes, the fingerprints are noticeable, and the silver border gets that rainbow look from the oils on your hand when you touch it. I can see this being a ***** to keep clean in the future.

I'll have a full article done later, right now I'm just playing and seeing how hot it gets.

Huh interesting that it's still super loud. I thought one of the major selling points they were pushing was that it was "whisper quiet". The old 360 already sounds like a jet engine taking off so what's the point?

Well, it is noticeably quieter when the disc is spinning. I mean, it's still evident but it isn't as bad as the older models. And I have to admit, it's very nice to not hear it at all when I'm at the dashboard. It literally doesn't sound like it's on unless you put your ear up to it. And honestly, if you have 250gb to work with, why not install all of your games? I have around 20 games, and when each game is around 5-8gb to install, that's still 90gb left for demos, videos, music, etc.

True indeed. I even install all my current games now on my 60GB just for the fact that it works the console less. But yeah it's no good to me now anyway as I said in the other post, the Gamestop trade-in deal isn't available in Canada and Im definitely not paying full price for a new 360 when it's probably gonna break again...which would've been my last concern but its obviously too soon for anyone to know whether its failure rate is any different.

Here's a video of what the 360 sounds like. I just made it quick, and the rest of the article will be finished tomorrow.

Me like, I'm going to try and get one this weekend. Finally gave up and going to trade my MW2 360 with all my extra stuff I should be only paying about $30 so I'm set.

Definitely not whisper quiet, but it's still a lot quieter. Thanks a lot for the video.

Is there a way to shut off that beeping sound when opening/closing the CD tray? That's a horribly annoying sound.

There's no option that I can find.

Regarding the article, there's been numerous tornado warnings, watches, thunderstorms, power outages, and all that fun stuff in my area so I haven't had the time to sit down and work on it. I may have to push it to tomorrow.

Understandable. I enjoyed having the video for reference, so I look forward to seeing the full article.
