The scene in the cabin was really awesome, but what happens afterwards is just plain dumb. I really hope this game doesn't end up being a disappointment.

Makes me wonder given how long the anticipation has been for the game if some people will automatically be disappointed when they play it.

So it's looking good? I didn't watch it because I dont want to see the first 10 minutes. Watching random clips and stuff is fine but I dont like having the first section of games spoiled for me since that really sets the tone for the rest of the game. Did the same thing for GoW3 and ME2 when the first 15 minutes leaked of those games. I wanna go in as fresh as possible!

This is something I've been worried about, actually. We've been waiting...what, four years now? Based on that alone, people's expectations are going to be really high. So, even if it is a good game (which I think it will be), many people are going to be disappointed just because it's not what they've hyped it up to be in their head. And some people will hate it on principle alone. They think because it has taken so long to make, it is going to be dated and they won't be able to enjoy it. Personally, I'm excited for it. I won't get it right away because there are other games I want first (Mass Effect 2 and Metro 2033), but I still plan on getting it. Perhaps fan reaction will work in my favor and I'll be able to get a cheap used copy. Heh.

I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same way, which is why I only watched a few bits here and there (I completely skipped the opening cutscene). It looks like a lot of fun; it reminds me of Evil Dead 2, Nightmare On Elm Street, and this one really crappy Stephen King story/movie about a writer whose creations come to life and terrorize a town (at least I think it was by King). It's a cool concept and I think playing it will be really enjoyable. It also has first-person narrative monologues, which is an interesting way to tell the story. It just got a bit silly when a light started talking and then magically rebuilt a bridge...I wasn't paying close attention at that part, so I'm not exactly sure what was going on.

Yeah first person narratives are a great way to tell a story. I hope the new Prince of Persia returns to that style.

This hopefully will end up filling that horror/survival hole in my gaming life. With both FEAR 3 and Dead Space 2 taking the RE5 route of throwing in "more action" to try to take some of that MW2 cake, this may be the last true survival/horror game coming out in the near future. Hope it turns out good! Luckily I haven't been following it too closely the last...4 years lol so I most likely wont be one of those going in with huge expectations and be disappointed.

Yeah, I've been treating this somewhat like I Am Alive. Although I've watched a couple of videos, I'm not following it too closely because I want the story to unfold naturally. People are marketing the hell out of games lately and it takes the mystery out of them.

As far as I Am Alive goes...I'm so intrigued by the brief synopsis I read a few months back that I am purposefully not trying to research the game. I've watched the teaser trailer and that's about the extent of it. I don't even want to know what kind of game it is. It sounds great and that's all I need to know. When I finally buy it, I want to be completely surprised.

I refuse to watch on the grounds that, like others, I want this game to be as fresh as possible. I stopped watching Alan wake trailers for the same reason. But man, one more sweet frakking month and I'll be playing it!
